Yelm WA: Weekend Results

A couple of records and some great racing at the Northwest Season Opener at Lake Lawrence / Yelm, WA:

y10It looks like the racers had to work around a little wind and a few showers but overall put together a great weekend of racing.  As is always the case at the first race of the year, some drivers dealt with small kinks or distractions that they will want to work on before the next race.  But they better work fast, we’re looking at a quick turn-around in the Northwest with Castle Rock coming up this weekend.  For others, the work  in the shop over the winter paid off and resulted in high finishes and of course at Yelm, a couple of World Records too!

Yelm was a joint sanctioned race that featured both outboard (Stock and Mod) classes as well as inboard classes.  The Stock (and Mod) turnout was phenomenal:

  • J Stock Hydro had 6 entries
  • 20 Super Stock Hydro had 13
  • C Stock Runabout had 4
  • C Stock Hydro had 19 !!!!!!
  • For the Mods 500ccmh had 10 and 750ccmh had 8

As promised in our lead up article; Records were broken:

  • J. Michael Kelly set a new 1-2/3 mile course world record in C stock Hydro at 63.8 mph
  • In the Inboard Category; NM-88 / Mr. Jiggs Racing upped the National Modified Hydroplane record to 117.42 mph
