Seattle Inboard Racing Association presents Run for the Record starting 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lawrence Lake.
Presented by Jet Chevrolet.com/Business Elite, the new configuration of the 1 2/3 mile course is in place, “and the racers loved it,” according to Russ Dodge, the co-race chairman and course surveyor.
Lawrence Lake is a premiere body of water for setting course records, according to the Seattle Inboard Racing Association, which called it “the racing Mecca of the West.” Boats from as far away as Louisiana are expected to compete.
“I was very pleased to have designed the course and have such a positive input from the racers,” Dodge said. “Weather did not cooperate last year, but there were a couple of records set and some very close to record speeds were recorded, too.”
There will be six classes of outboards and eight to nine classes of inboards.
“The Washington Fish and Wildlife boat ramp will be closed by permit from WDFW and the lake will be closed to the public by permit from Thurston County,” Dodge said. “It is a great show for those that like to see real speed on the water.”
